The GRASSIMESSE is an international forum and a fair for applied art and product design from all fields. It stands in the tradition of the historical GRASSIMESSE, founded in 1920 and famous as “Meeting Place of Modernity.” Since the reestablishment in 1997, the fair has been held once each year on the last weekend of October. This year, more than 100 artists, designers, craftsmen, art collectives and students from all over the world will present and sell their works at 71 fair stands.

This year’s fair centres on jewelry and ceramics, ranging from excellently manufactured necklaces to brooches made from vintage materials to necklets that resemble maps of European cities. As for the ceramic section, the fair showcases lots of works by Europe-based Asian artists that pay testimony to the artistically interesting connection between Asian and European design approaches. Apart from jewelry and ceramics, visitors can also enjoy the works of internationally renowned glass artists, furniture and textile designers and hatters, as well as collections of limited editions and sample industrial products of glass, textile, clothing, furniture, metal, leather, toys etc. In total, the fair displays a fascinating variety of creative design which allures to see and buy as well.

Subject and concern of the GRASSIMESSE is the selection and promotion of quality. Therefore, a jury of experts decides on the selection of the exhibitors and will award the four prizes on the occasion of the GRASSIMESSE. The GRASSIMESSE, whose historical roots can be traced back as early as 1920, is organized by the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts. It takes place in the reconstructed Grassi museum, an important building of the Art Decó period. The GRASSIMESSE forum and sales exhibition in equal measure, reflects the world of ideas and the variety of contemporary creative design, promotes developments and sharpens the awareness for design quality. This selection and international orientation enables to gain a comprehensive overview of recent innovations and trends, as well as timeless modern design.
