"Ethically pure" necklace for 33,000 Euro

Siegfried Büeler from Düsseldorf serves anything but meatless art. He created a necklace out of one kilogram organic beef, five grams Rheingold, dark red jewels and a lot of strings usually needed for sausage products. The name of the necklace “Ethisch Rhein” does not only refer to “father Rhine” (i.e. the river Rhine) but it also implies that hardly anything is “ethically pure”. A protest against factory farming and pressures of a materialistic society? A remedy for the carnal desire with a shamanic effect?

Or did the jewelry designer create a stable investment opportunity, as he indicates: “Due to the preservation, the meat is still edible. In case the whole monetary system breaks down, you have at least meat, gold and jewels – probably the most important goods when it comes to bartering.” Anyone who is willing to spend 33,000 Euro for such a Christmas present can go for it on the new design platform „Collektions“:
