Apart from the installation „Tierstrasse“ (animalstreet), that calls for animal welfare, by HA Schult, Tollwood Festival Munich offers further highlights from the visual arts: „m|u|c|a on tour – art in context“ is the motto of m|u|c|a Gallery’s latest experiment. The gallery tests the transformation of art in different surroundings and environments, like public spaces, festivals or confined spaces. The experiment took its beginning at art fair ARTMUC in spring 2014, where several artists were invited to create live art at the show. Artist of various styles, like Urban Contemporary Art, textile art, street art or pop art, followed the invitation and allowed the visitors to look over their shoulders. These works will be on display in different locations in the course of the year. Tollwood summer festival is one of them. The artists’ works can be visited in six different places of the festival area in Olympiapark Munich.

The works by New York based Japanese artists AIKO can be summarized as: Pop Art meets traditional Japanese art. AIKO is one of the few women of the male dominated street art scene. Yet she ranks among the top of the world.

Graffiti artist CASE is famous for his photorealism from spray can. He has been a member of the street artist group “Maclaim Crew” since 2000. That is also the place where he learned his wonderful technique. His themes are beauty and uniqueness.

Herakut – that is the street artist duo Hera and Akut. They have been an artist duo since 2004 and have been telling stories of melancholy and deeper humor ever since in their unmistakable style. In his socio-critical works he processes political events and identifies injustices of the consumer and fun society.

Nora Gres manufactures illustrations of the urban sphere. She trades brushes and spray cans for sewing machine and her sewn paintings are concerned with people in urban environments.

London based artist Zeus discovered three-dimensional graffiti art for himself. He implements classical graffiti motives and themes in a sculptural manner. Writing and Typography still play a key role.

One further highlight of „m|u|c|a on tour – art in context“ was the live audition of L.E.T (Les Enfants Terribles), who produced new stencil works at the festival yesterday.
