8E AVENUE

Contemporary and Urban Art

Contemporary Art is founded upon the experimentations of Modern Art and particularly the desire to remove Art from too traditional and institutional places. According to this spirit, 8e Avenue art fair, honors contemporary creation and provides young as well as confirmed galleries with the possibility to present and defend their artists.

The event takes place inside a pavilion settled along the Champs-Élysées avenue, facing the Grand Palais and Art Élysées art fair. The new 8e Avenue fair promotes cultural and economic exchanges. An ambitious event which has been acclaimed by galleries who wish to be present at this important time of the year and enthusiastic at the prospect of participating in an art fair that backs their criteria.

Franck Le Feuvre, director and founder of Galerie Le Feuvre in Paris, is the creative director for the Urban Art section of 8e Avenue, and wishes to put Urban Art on the front line. "Even if we will present contemporary art, 8e Avenue is committed to promoting urban art, which is less present on art fairs in general," explains Franck Le Feuvre. The Urban Art movement, initiated as early as 1965, today enjoys a high expansion with many internationally renowned contemporary artists, is becoming more and more popular and also has installed itself as a major actor of the Contemporary Art scene, where Paris holds an important place.

There is plenty to discover for visitors in the fair’s second edition. A number of galleries in France and abroad have been selected, amongst them some dedicated to urban art in France. Upon their arrival in front of the pavilion of 8e Avenue, visitors can admire the work of the German graffiti artist Marc C.Woehr, presented in large scale at the entrance. This year, the organizers also present an exhibition of a selection of works by urban art pioneer Raymond Hains. Alongside this exhibition, the general public can discover cultural institutions such as the Musée de Poche and Maison Elsa Triolet – Aragon. Furthermore, visitors can discover the unique experience of 3D technology, with doob, a store in Germany that creates customized 3D modelisations.

The Contemporary and Urban Art Show 8e Avenue takes place from October, 20 until October 24, 2016. The fair pavilion is open to visitors daily, from 11am to 8pm, except Mondays (till 6pm).
