COLOGNE FINE ART

Art fair with a top class offering

Around 150 exhibitors from young project spaces to established galleries present gallery highlights from their art programme. This optimally supplements Cologne Fine Art, which is taking place at the same time, and will show art up to the year 2000. Art enthusiasts and collectors thus also have a trade fair offering in autumn for contemporary art that focuses on young, international art and the current art scene in the Rhineland.

As usual, Cologne Fine Art fair has a lot of highlight in store, showing a cross-section of the art history. There is something for everyone in the different fair sections. For lovers of art of the Middle Ages and the 19th century there is a lot to discover, from icon paintings to Dutch and Flemish Baroque painting. There are also galleries bringing select antiques to Cologne, including a Tric Trac table with a chessboard, original chess pieces and game pieces produced around 1790 in France. Another gallery from Hamburg specialises in walking sticks from the 17th to the 20th centuries, while others present exquisite art and design of the 20th century, like for example a pair of Art Deco armchairs upholstered with sheepskin, which were produced in around 1940 in Denmark.

COFA Contemporary provides an overview of the current art scene of the Rhineland. Following the success of the previous year, invited juries and non-profit rooms will exclusively show works created after the year 2000 on a separate hall level. For the first time, COFA Contemporary is cooperating in this context with the network of independent art and project spaces and initiatives of Cologne founded in 2016, "Art Initiatives Cologne" (AIC), as well as with the Cultural Office of the City of Cologne. Following the successful premiere last year, the contemporary platform COFA Contemporary 2016 is starting the second round.

Cologne Fine Art takes place from 17 – 20 November 2016 at koelnmesse exhibition centre. It is open from 11am – 7pm on Friday and Saturday and from 11am – 6pm on Sunday.
