Jakarta - the Ultimate International Art Destination

ART STAGE Jakarta 2017 Indonesia's premium international art fair closed its second edition on Sunday, 13 August on a high note. The Fair saw strong visitor turnout and robust sales at all levels with significant works being briskly snapped up from the very first day of the Fair.

Together with the extension into Gandaria City Mall in the form of The Art Square, ART STAGE Jakarta drew a total of 52, 240 visitors from Wednesday, 9 August, when The Art Square opened, until 13 August, when the Fair closed.

"ART STAGE Jakarta has successfully built a bridge between Indonesia and the international art world […]" said Lorenzo Rudolf, Founder and President, ART STAGE.

The Fair attracted collectors from Indonesia and abroad, artists, art professionals and the general Indonesian public whose attendance attested to ART STAGE Jakarta's professionalism, high standards and quality.

In addition to the galleries exhibiting at the fairground at Sheraton Hotel Grand Indonesia, another 27 exhibitors also presented works at The Art Square, which took place at Gandaria City Mall.

As a fair whose mission it is to foster the Indonesian art scene, this new section of the Fair offered art institutions, organisations, art groups, young galleries, education centers and non-profit groups an opportunity to participate in an art fair.

The Young Collectors exhibition, "Spirit Today", also took place at Gandaria City Mall, attracting visitors to view the works from the private collections of five Indonesian collectors.

For the first time, Jakarta witnessed the ART STAGE Jakarta Week, which brought art out to the people beyond the fairground. The ART STAGE Jakarta Week gathered various activities together in a week celebrating art.

With the Fair as the anchor event, ART STAGE Jakarta Week positioned and promoted Jakarta as a definitive art destination. Participating organisations included cultural institutions such as the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, the Institut Français d'Indonésie and the Erasmus Huis.

Furthermore it included museums such as the Galeri Nasional Indonesia, Art:1 New Museum, Museum MACAN and Museum Seni Rupa & Keramik; as well as famed French department store, Galeries Lafayette.

ART STAGE Jakarta also presented the inaugural Indonesian Award for Authenticity, Leadership, Excellence, Quality, Seriousness in Art. The Award recognised the best of the best across the entire art industry of Indonesia, acknowledging the tremendous creativity, passion, commitment, ideas and concepts of the Indonesian art world.
