Special moments: that´s what capturing a photo is all about and my life has always revolved around photography. While horses have been the primary focus of my compositional eye, they are by no means the only motif which interests me. I have won awards not only for my equine images but also for my photo journalistic work.

Being surrounded by horses most of my life, I have been inspired by their grace and beauty. The Icelandic horse has become one of my favorite motif and I have continued to photograph them in the US and in Iceland. Being recognized internationally for my work in the Equestrian industry, my work can be found in numerous publications.

Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany to a British mother and a German father, I spent most of my youth with horses. At nineteen, I moved to Paris, France for one year, then to Milan, Italy. At twenty-three, I came to New York and have since then lived here together with my husband, my children and my horses.

I got my first camera at the age of six. From that time on, my world has been filled with photographic images. While still taking pictures myself, I was tapped on the shoulder by the model world and found myself in front of the lens for the next 20 years. I have been very fortunate to work with some of the best photographers in the world.

Having never put my camera into storage, my passion for taking pictures continues. I have come full circle to where I work best - behind the lens - with a fresh perspective enhanced by my degree in graphic design from Parson’s School of design and as a freelance graphic artist.

In addition, I spend a lot of time in the print studio, where I create copper photogravures of some of my images.  It is a lengthy and difficult process but hereby the most wonderful color shades can be created. Most of my images are limited editions. I never print more than 5-10 per image.

Horses have always been a passion of mine already at an early age, so photographing the horse was a natural extension of what I love. What makes photography so intriguing to me is that I can watch horses in their natural environment, feel and see the small nuances of their natural interactions, which can explode into a fury of energy in just a few seconds.  It all happens just fingertips away from me. Photographing outside in the wilderness in natural settings brings back the original spirit of the horse. It’s all about patience, waiting for the movement in the right moment, for the light to dance across, or simply study their behavior.  That is the key to taking good photographs. For me, sitting outside in nature surrounded by horses is a life-long passion, one that is taking me to many places around the earth and to a few where horses still roam freely.
